Squadron 36, proudly located in San Jose, California, San Francisco Bay Area, is a local unit of the Civil Air Patrol. We are part of San Francisco Bay Group 2 and California Wing. We are located at the Reid-Hillview Airport.

Squadron 36, consists of both senior members 18 years of age and older and cadet members between 12 and 21 years of age. As a Cadet squadron, our members contribute to all three of the core Civil Air Patrol missions: Emergency Services, Aerospace Education and the Cadet Program. Squadron 36 is named after John Joseph Montgomery, a professor at Santa Clara University and an early glider pioneer. His flights in the 1880s are considered to be the first controlled flights of a heavier than air machine in the Western Hemisphere.
